Speaker: Prof. Qiang Li (University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC)) Time: PM 14:00, 29-03-2016 Location: Lecture Hall 389, Microelectronics Building, Jiangjiang Campus (张江校区微电子楼389 报告厅) Abstract: This talk discusses the design considerations of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for IoT and biomedical applications, with particular focus on subthreshold analog design techniques. The problem is fundamentally driven by energy-efficient SoC designs where the analog and digital cores share the same supply voltage. Ultra-low voltage design is also driven by energy-harvesting applications. We try to accommodate design challenges from transistor-level analog techniques, while the digital-assisted design aspects are also studied. A 0.15V-supply-voltage nanowatt ADC was demonstrated and 0.25V/0.3V delta-sigma ADCs were prototyped, which demonstrated the lowest supply voltage and highest resolution in sub-0.5V ADCs reported to date. A dry-contacted EEG interface exploiting the proposed techniques will be presented. The scientific part of this talk is based on the group's recent results presented at VLSI, CICC, ESSCIRC and ISSCC-SRP. Speaker Bio: Qiang Li received the B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China and the Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2001 and 2007, respectively. He has been working on analog/RF and mixed-signal circuits in both academia and industry, holding positions of Engineer, Project Leader & Technical Consultant in Singapore, and associate professor (tenured) at the Engineering School of Aarhus University, Denmark. He is currently a full professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), and Vice Dean of School of Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics. His research interests include ultra-low voltage and energy-efficient analog/RF circuits, data converters, and mixed-mode circuits for biomedical and sensor interfaces.
